St.
Bernard Prep School held Parents Weekend the weekend of October 26th
and 28th. This annual event
gives the parents of currently enrolled students the opportunity to talk with
faculty and staff and discuss the academic progress being made by their sons
and daughters.
“It was a great weekend in every way,” said John
Tekulve, the Headmaster. “When we have
an event like this, it is easy to see why our students are successful. It all goes back to supportive parents who
want their children to do their best.”
William Calvert, the Principal of the Middle School,
echoed Tekulve’s sentiments. “I was very
pleased with the parent/teacher conferences.
We had a team approach which allowed for better feedback for both
teachers and parents.”
After the parent/teacher conferences, a highlight of
the weekend was the Saturday night dinner and the student-sponsored talent show
which concluded the Parents Weekend activities.
Mr. Rodney Fike, the school’s drama and music teacher, organized the
show assisted by teachers, Miriam Stella and Mistie Howse, who served as
emcees.
The entertainment included piano solos, a cappella
and duet singing, choral singing, and dances.
Following an international theme, a variety of musical and theatrical
productions were presented from around the globe. “The talent show was outstanding,” said
Tekulve. “I was amazed how wonderfully
the students performed.”
“The musical piece that was the show stopper was
presented by our international students,” Tekulve continued. “They brought the house down with their gangnam-style
dance performance that would have made Korea’s pop star, Psy, proud.”
